Over 5,000 children die each day because of water borne disease

. . . Can she wait?

Filter Story

Madelin July 2005

This young girl's quality of life is improved because of Seabrook Challenge.

Hello Filter People!  Meet another child impacted by the biosand filter Her name is Madelin, she's 8 years old, and lives in Agua de Luis, a rural community in Monte Cristi of about 500 people.  There is no water system in Agua de Luis, so she used to drink rainwater that had been stored in large, dirty cisterns, or pond water.  Since her family installed the bio-sand water filter, Madelin and her 2 younger brothers drink clean filtered water that is hygenically stored in the 5 gallon jug with lid seen in the background.  She knows how to pour the water into her tin cup to minimize contamination, and she never drinks unfiltered water anymore!

Thank you Rotary!
